...it does take about 15 seconds to burn the ends. The last hank that I received had a frayed end (gasp!) and I had to use my scissors and cut about 1/2" off of the offending end and then I had to use my lighter and burn it. It was positively dreadful.

Seriously though, I have been very pleased with the quality and consistency of mr. paracord's product- the poly and the nylon- and that's something that I can't say for much of the other paracord that I have procured. In my experience, 550 cord is NOT "pretty much all the same no matter where I get it from", but YMMV, caveat emptor, etc....
